UWCL: Jennifer Echegini's Tough Return to Turin as PSG Defeated by Juventus

Nigerian midfielder Jennifer Echegini endured a challenging evening as Paris Saint-Germain fell 3-1 to her former club, Juventus, in the UEFA Women’s Champions League (UWCL) Round 2 playoff on Wednesday.

Echegini, who recently signed with PSG on a contract running until June 2027, had previously enjoyed a successful stint at Juventus, scoring 10 goals in 16 appearances.

Juventus struck early, with Amalie Vangsgaard opening the scoring. While PSG equalized through Thiniba Samoura, Juventus quickly regained control, with Sofia Cantore restoring the lead just before halftime.

In the second half, Juventus solidified their dominance when Bennison added a third goal, assisted by Cantore, giving the Italian side a two-goal cushion heading into the second leg in Paris next week.

Juventus proved too strong for Echegini and her PSG teammates, leaving them with a tough task to overturn the deficit and advance to the next round.

Echegini will now look to help PSG mount a comeback in the return leg on September 26.
