I-TEAM: Suspect Arrested and Weapon Seized After Double Shooting in Parma.

PARMA – On Saturday, Parma police responded to a report of shots fired with possible injuries in the area of West Ridgewood Dr., just west of Ridge Rd. Officers were informed that two victims had been shot after a call came in from one of the victims, who stated that both he and his cousin had been injured.

According to the press release, the 19-year-old victim was shot in the arm, while his 18-year-old cousin was shot in the thigh. Both were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The victims were walking on the north side of West Ridgewood Dr. when the suspect, who was walking on the south side, began yelling at them before firing three shots.

As officers checked the area, they discovered three spent 9mm shell casings. They also collected witness statements, which helped provide a detailed description of the suspect. He was located shortly after at an RTA Transit Center.

A loaded 9mm handgun was also found along the path between the shooting site and the Transit Center, where the suspect, a 23-year-old man from Cleveland, was arrested.

The suspect was arraigned on Saturday, with bond set at $1 million by Judge Timothy Gilligan. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Monday morning.

Police confirmed that the victims did not know the suspect and that the shootings appeared to be unprovoked.
