Bologna Preview: A Season of Highs and Missed Opportunities
Bologna had been in contention for a top-four finish and a potential UEFA Champions League spot this season. However, the Emilia-Romagna club gradually fell out of the race. Still, they won't be too disappointed, having ended a decades-long trophy drought.
Last week, Bologna defeated AC Milan at the Stadio Olimpico to lift their first major trophy in over 50 years. However, their Champions League hopes were dashed shortly after, following a thrilling 3-2 defeat to Fiorentina at the Artemio Franchi in Florence.
Genoa Preview: Vieira Steadies the Ship
Patrick Vieira took over as Genoa manager during the November international break, following the surprising dismissal of Alberto Gilardino. Since then, the former Crystal Palace and Strasbourg coach has guided Genoa safely away from relegation danger.
Despite this turnaround, Genoa’s form has dipped at the tail end of the season. A 3-2 defeat to Atalanta last weekend extended their winless run to six matches, during which they've picked up just two points.
Bologna Team News
Bologna will be without left-back Juan Miranda, who is suspended for the final matchday clash with Genoa. Defender Martin Erli? is also out due to injury, while Jens Odgaard and Estanis Pedrola remain doubtful.
