Hungarian Shooters Shine with Multiple Medals at European Championship in France

Hungarian athletes delivered a strong performance at the European Shooting Championship in Châteauroux, France, securing multiple medals and setting personal bests on Tuesday.

A standout moment came in the women’s 25m standard pistol event, where Hungary achieved a double podium finish. Sára Ráhel Fábián claimed gold with a score of 567, closely followed by Veronika Major, who took silver with 564. Azerbaijan’s Khanna Alijeva earned bronze with 560, while Hungary’s Renáta Sike placed ninth, scoring 552.

In the junior categories, Hungary continued its medal-winning momentum. Ákos Károly Nagy won silver in the junior men’s 25m standard pistol with 563 points, finishing behind France’s Thomas Clement Chinours (568). In the junior women’s event, Olívia Ditta Domsits also secured silver with a score of 557, with gold going to Anna Pelmeneva—competing as a neutral athlete from Russia—who scored 565.

Another success came in the men’s 50m running target 30+30 event, where Tamás Tasi captured the bronze medal. Armenia’s Hovhannes Margaryan took gold and set a new world record with a score of 591.

In the team running target event, the Hungarian trio narrowly missed the podium, placing fourth with a combined total of 1,728 points. Sweden clinched gold with 1,741. Individually, József Sike placed 11th with 574 points, while László Boros came in 17th with 565.

In the men’s 50m rifle three-position team event, the Hungarian team—comprising István Péni, Zalán Pekler, and Soma Hammerl—finished 11th with a total score of 1,317.
