Hungary to Host High-Octane RX Heroes Clash in 2025
Fans of the FIA World and European Rallycross Championships got a thrilling preview of what’s to come this weekend, as Nyirád set the stage with a special launch event that brought rallycross excitement into the heart of nearby Tapolca.

As one of the most fan-friendly motorsports, rallycross didn’t disappoint — turning Tapolca’s town centre into a buzzing high-performance showcase. Spectators of all ages packed the streets, meeting top-tier drivers and getting a close-up view of the impressive machinery from both World RX and Euro RX series.
The atmosphere was electric as anticipation built ahead of the weekend's action at the renowned “Red Cauldron” circuit. Swedish star Johan Kristoffersson, fresh off a victory in Sweden, is eyeing back-to-back wins at Nyirád. “It’s great to be back. This track is very cool — especially that first corner!” he said. “We’ll treat it as a big challenge, stay focused, and see what we can deliver.”

Championship leader Niclas Grönholm, who previously triumphed in Hungary, is determined to defend his lead. “That’s the goal — to stay on top,” the Finnish driver shared. “It’s going to be tough, but we’ve had a strong start to the season and we’ll push to keep that momentum going.” He also noted the importance of weather and track conditions: “The weather's similar to last year, but the surface has changed a lot — that could make a difference.”
The Hansen brothers also fired up the crowd, recalling last year’s dramatic final. “It’s going to be hot, for sure,” said Timmy Hansen. “But Nyirád is one of the best rallycross tracks in the world. We saw some wild moments last year — like Kevin’s tangle with Johan in that chaotic first corner of the final. You can always expect drama here!”
