European Military Academies Unite at EUMACS 2025 Seminar
The 2025 European Union Military Academies Commandants’ Seminar (EUMACS) brought together delegates from 24 countries, representing 43 foreign universities and five Polish military academies. Participants included senior military commanders, academic leaders, and experts in security and defense from across Europe, with representation from nations such as Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, Spain, Finland, Lithuania, Latvia, Slovakia, and other EU member states.

The event opened with keynote addresses by Brigadier General Prof. Dr. Eng. Przemys?aw Wachulak, Rector-Commandant of the Military University of Technology, and Brigadier General Pilot Dr. Krzysztof Cur, Rector-Commandant of the Polish Air Force University. Distinguished guests included Jakub Mykowski, Director of the Department of Military Education at Poland’s Ministry of Defense; Prof. Leszek Wieczorek, Deputy Director of the same department; Fergal O’Regan, Head of the European Security and Defence College; and Colonel Prof. Harald Gell, Chair of the EU Military Erasmus Implementation Group.
The Military University of Land Forces was represented by its Rector, Lieutenant General (ret.) Dr. Marek Tomaszycki, along with Colonel (res.) Dr. Eng. Norbert ?wi?tochowski, Vice-Rector for Didactic Affairs, and Lieutenant Colonel ?ukasz Lasota, Head of International Cooperation and Public Affairs.
The seminar focused on critical themes including the internationalization of military education through the EMILYO (European Military Erasmus) programme, interoperability among EU armed forces, and the evolving landscape of security and defense challenges amid shifting geopolitical dynamics.
Expert panels explored a diverse range of strategic and operational topics such as:
The role of air forces in hybrid operations and their implications for military education,
Air-land-sea integration in multi-domain operations,
Emerging trends and challenges in military training,
And modern warfare tactics and technologies.
A strong emphasis was placed on fostering academic cooperation and knowledge exchange to enhance the effectiveness of military education and strategic coordination across Europe’s defense institutions.
