Thousands of Contraband Cigarettes and Dried Herb Seized by Bielawa Police
Officers from the Economic Crime Unit of the Dzier?oniów District Police Headquarters carried out two successful operations in Bielawa, seizing large quantities of illegal excise goods and preventing substantial financial losses to the State Treasury.
The first raid took place on July 2, 2025, when officers searched a private apartment in Bielawa. They uncovered 121,440 cigarettes of various brands lacking Polish excise stamps, along with over 7.5 kilograms of dried plant material stored in 17 zip-lock bags. Authorities also seized more than PLN 140,000 in cash. A 61-year-old woman was arrested and charged with possession of untaxed tobacco products. The estimated loss to the State Treasury from this case alone exceeds PLN 140,000.

The second operation occurred on July 23, 2025. During a search of another Bielawa apartment, police detained a 61-year-old man found in possession of over 47,000 untaxed cigarettes. This incident represents an additional potential loss of over PLN 52,000 to the Treasury.
Both investigations are being led by the Dzier?oniów District Police Headquarters.
Thanks to the swift action of the Economic Crime Department, these illegal goods were removed from circulation, safeguarding public revenue. Authorities emphasize that the sale or storage of excise goods without proper Polish tax markings is a criminal offense and may lead to severe legal consequences.
