Criteria that creators must meet to receive the HIB label include:
The craftsman is self-employed in his main profession in Belgium.
The craftsman employs a maximum of 25 full-time (FTE) employees.
The manufacturing process is at least 50% manual.
The craftsman controls the entire manufacturing process (from A to Z).
Consciously produced in Belgium.
A substantial part (30%) of the range is handmade.
The craftsman creates a product with a utilitarian function.
he craftsman creates a unique product with his 'signature'.
The manufacturing process involves production, restoration or transformation and therefore not pure assembly.
The craftsman works on a small scale and strives for quality.
The craftsman has acquired his knowledge and skills through training and experience.
It's about customization, not mass production.
The craftsman goes to work with passion and expertise.
The craftsman is well aware of his choice of materials/raw materials.
Some sectors are not eligible for the label, such as the hospitality/caterers, florists, agriculture, assemblers, artists, and photographers.
