Chrysler recalls over 450,000 Jeep and Ram vehicles due to trailer light failure

Chrysler announced a recall affecting more than 450,000 vehicles on Monday, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The recall, issued due to non-illuminating trailer brake lights and turn signals, involves eight Jeep and Ram models and impacts 456,287 vehicles. The lighting malfunction could reduce visibility to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.

Affected models include certain 2024–26 Jeep Wagoneer S, 2025–26 Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500 pickups, 2025–26 Ram 3500, 4500, and 5500 Cab Chassis vehicles, as well as the 2026 Jeep Cherokee. To address the issue, Chrysler dealers will replace the trailer tow module free of charge. Owner notification letters are scheduled to be mailed starting March 24.

Customers affected by the recall may contact FCA US LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403 and reference recall number 03D. Vehicle Identification Numbers included in the recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning Feb. 10. Owners can also check for recalls directly on Chrysler’s website.

In a separate but related action, Chrysler is recalling approximately 2,871 Mopar tow trailer modules due to similar issues with trailer lighting and brakes, according to the NHTSA recall notice.
