JW Marriott Makes Poland Debut in Krakow, Set for 2027 Opening

Suited Interior Design has been appointed to reimagine Kraków’s historic PKO bank building as Poland’s first JW Marriott, set to open in 2027. The London-based hospitality studio will preserve the structure’s original vault and cashier’s hall while introducing a four-story dome crowned by a cupola—inspired by the Roman Pantheon—that will house the hotel’s most exclusive accommodations.

The design concept draws from the original vision of architect Adolf Szyszko-Bohusz, a classically trained preservationist who worked at the rise of modernism. His interplay of classical and modernist styles informs Suited’s approach, which also nods to the Kraków Workshops and Young Poland Movement through contemporary craftsmanship, colour and materiality. Subtle references to “white gold”—the salt that once fueled the city’s prosperity—are woven throughout the hotel spa.

The 120-room property will feature two-story suites with spiral staircases and “Mindfulness Suites” spanning 95 square metres, complete with full-height marble walls, freestanding baths and city views. Many guest rooms overlook St. Mary’s Basilica; traditional mouldings have been elongated to accentuate lofty ceilings, while timber detailing bridges classical and modernist languages.

As a listed historic building, the former bank retains original encaustic tile flooring, wood-panelled offices and ornate boardrooms. The cashier hall is being integrated into the hotel’s fabric, while the vault has been reimagined as the signature spa—anchored by a golden soaking tub and a circular pool lined in gold tile. Beneath the Pantheon-inspired cupola, a new bar occupies the rotunda, and former cashier stations are being transformed into lounge seating. An executive lounge will reside within the building’s historic wing.

Shelley Reiner, director of Suited Interior Design, said: “I’m thrilled to bring our design vision to JW Marriott Kraków. Rooted in the city’s story of resilience and revival, the hotel is set to become both a tribute to the building’s heritage and a vibrant stage for contemporary hospitality experiences.”
