Bukowno Secures Over PLN 2.3 Million for New Green Spaces
Bukowno has received more than PLN 2.3 million in funding for the next phase of its green-blue infrastructure development. The decision was made by the Ma?opolska Voivodeship Board as part of a competition under the European Funds for Ma?opolska 2021–2027 program.

The new phase of the investment, with a total value exceeding PLN 2.7 million, involves the creation of additional recreational and ecological spaces across the city. Plans include the construction of walking and recreation parks featuring rainwater retention systems on S?awkowska and Reymonta Streets, as well as the development of a small pocket park on Ko?ciuszki Street. The project will be complemented by pedestrian paths and small-scale architecture, and will also include an educational component highlighting the importance of environmentally friendly solutions. Completion is scheduled for the end of 2027.
This is not the first such project undertaken in Bukowno. Since 2024, the municipality has been carrying out extensive work in this area, including the construction of stormwater retention systems, the creation of parks with infiltration elements, and the development of green spaces around public facilities. Residents can expect to see the results of some of these investments later this year, including new recreational areas and water management infrastructure.
Of particular significance to the local community is the development of the site on S?awkowska Street, where the ground has been systematically prepared for several years to create a recreational space. Both former councilors and current residents' representatives have been involved in these efforts, securing funding and advancing the project.
Bukowno is one of 13 local governments to receive support in the latest round of funding for green and blue infrastructure development. A total of over PLN 15 million was allocated, although the full competition pool amounted to nearly PLN 30 million. Selected projects include park revitalization, the creation of rain gardens, the development of green spaces, and educational activities related to environmental protection and climate change adaptation. Funding under the program can cover up to 85 percent of eligible investment costs, significantly facilitating the implementation of ambitious projects.
